Lanakila Park Beautification – Martin Luther King Day Service Project

In the spirit of service for the Martin Luther King holiday, the Lanakila Park gazebo received a well-deserved facelift.  About 20-25 local Waimea residents from W.M. Keck Observatory, Luala’i neighborhood and Annunciation Catholic Church youth, spearheaded by local resident, Jason Chin, gathered Sunday morning to give the gazebo a fresh, clean look.  Working with the approval and supplies from Parker Ranch, the volunteers spent 2-3 hours making this space more serene and welcoming.

You may drive past this acre of land across from Paniolo Restaurant and adjacent to Annunciation Catholic Church every day and hardly give it a glance.  Now, with trees trimmed and a freshly painted gazebo it might require a visit, with time to explore the Ke Ala Kahawai O Waimea nature trail since it originates at Lanakila Park.

Everyone involved had fun and pitched in to help beautify our community, and even coinciding with our upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival!
